HPI Shear configured strain gages are used to measure the angular distortion that results when a component is subjected to torque or twisting. The shear strain gage design is more compact than the Chevron gage, facilitating its use where installation constraints are a concern.

Our waterproof gages are specifically designed to evaluate and monitor live-load stresses for railroad, bridge, and other structural applications and are 100% full water immersion tested.

The precision foil gage is bonded to a stainless steel shim, pre-wired and protected with a molded water-proofing material. The stainless steel shim permits easy field installation with any conventional capacitive discharge spot welder.

Instrumentation cable and wiring options can be customized to your specifications. Custom gage sizes and resistance are also available. Please see the table below for options.
