Our waterproof gages are specifically designed to evaluate and monitor live-load stresses for railroad, bridge, and other structural applications and are 100% full water immersion tested.

The precision foil gage is bonded to a stainless steel shim, pre-wired and protected with a molded water-proofing material. The stainless steel shim permits easy field installation with any conventional capacitive discharge spot welder. If bonding is preferred or necessary, gages can be manufactured for bonding instead of welding.

Instrumentation cable lengths and types can be customized. Quarter bridge, half bridge and full bridge wiring options available for most waterproof weldables. Custom gage sizes and resistance are also available.

Temperature Range: -50°F — 180°F (-45.5°C — 82°C)

  • Axial Series (HBW & HBWF)
    Axial configured strain gages measure strain in one principal direction: along the long axis of the shim. They can be oriented in either the longitudinal or circumferential direction on the component being tested, and the shims can be pre-curved to fit surfaces with small radius curvatures.

  • Chevron Series (HBWC)
    Chevron strain gages are designed with two active elements oriented at right angles (90°) to each other, bonded to a single shim. Most popular for the ease and accuracy of Poisson’s Ratio measurements. (A material loaded in one direction will undergo strains perpendicular to the direction of the load as well as parallel to it. The ratio of the transverse strain to the longitudinal strain is called Poisson’s Ratio.)
